| Eileen,
I want to correct my previous response.
The Ellis Island manifest says that Domenico Gaiche is of Northern Italian ethnicity, but the geography listed ("Haynigen") is his last residence, not necessarily where he was born.
On 5 March 1907 his brother Emilio Gaiche, age 27, unmarried, came through Ellis Island to join him. It says that the last residence of Emilio was "Hagange." I realized that there were a number of Italians on his ship whose last residence is listed as Paris, France.
I think that it is possible that Domenico and Emilio were working in France in what would appear on today's map as Hayange before going to the USA. Hayange is actually fairly close to, and due east of, the port of LaHavre from which both sailed.

| Eileen,
Gaiche seems to be the correct spelling of your name. There are 19 listed with this spelling in the telephone directory in Italy. There is also a listing at Ellis Island for Domenico Gaiche arriving 7 July 1905. His age may be 23 and he is unmarried. His place of origin is listed as "Haynigen" Northern Italy, but this seems to have been garbled in the translation.
